At VellServe, protecting the dignity and privacy of every beneficiary is our highest priority. We are committed to sharing inspiring stories of recovery and hope without compromising the identity or emotional wellbeing of the individuals involved.
Why Anonymization Matters:
Many patients and their families may feel vulnerable during times of illness. Public exposure of their identities, photos, or personal struggles can lead to emotional distress or social stigma. At VellServe, we strive to offer help with dignity. We believe that compassion does not require public display of suffering.
How We Share Anonymized Cases:
- All beneficiary stories on our platform are presented in anonymized formats (e.g., “a 10-year-old boy from Kozhikode battling leukemia”).
- Names, faces, exact locations, or identifiable documents will not be published unless there is express written consent.
- Medical details are shared only in summary form, focusing on diagnosis, financial requirement, and fundraising goals.
- Photos may be representative, symbolic, or illustrative unless explicit permission is granted for real visuals.
Consent-Based Disclosure:
In rare cases where families are willing to share identity and real images for fundraising transparency, VellServe obtains signed consent through a detailed authorization form.
Even then, we review the content for dignity, sensitivity, and ethical presentation.
Transparency with Trust:
We understand that donors seek assurance on the legitimacy of causes. To address this:
- All campaigns undergo document verification and direct validation by our team.
- Internal audit trails and fund utilization summaries are maintained.
- Donors may request anonymized post-fund reports for high-value campaigns.
Compliance with Legal and Ethical Norms:
This policy complies with Indian IT Rules, applicable healthcare privacy norms, and global best practices for ethical fundraising. We do not disclose personal health data without consent and avoid all forms of exploitation.
Our Promise:
VellServe pledges to:
✔ Protect patient confidentiality
✔ Share only anonymized case summaries by default
✔ Avoid showcasing graphic or distressing content
✔ Uphold dignity while appealing to the donor community
